Pimpri Chinchwad: PCMC To Erect New Billboards To Increase Revenue

Pimpri Chinchwad, 6th April 2023: The Sky Signs and Licensing Department of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will allow new billboards in the upcoming fiscal year 2023-24, aiming to increase revenue. For the first time, the department has managed to recover Rs 17 crore 24 lakhs.

The revenue of the department has been rising over the last five years. This year, the government has approved the installation of new advertisement boards after not allowing it last year. There are currently 2,104 authorized billboards in the city, generating income for the municipal corporation. In the present financial year, the sky sign department will focus on raising revenue through the installation of advertisement boards without disrupting the peace of the city. The BRT roads, metro pillars, public toilets, kiosks at road dividers, and hoardings at 50 municipal sites will be tendered to increase the income of the department.

Furthermore, there are 433 pending disputes over billboards in various parts of the city, which could have generated a massive amount of revenue of around nine crores. The Sky Signs and Licensing Department plans to prioritize the recovery of old arrears to increase the revenue. A survey was conducted in the city, which led to the discovery of some unregistered billboards, and they were duly recorded and recovered.

The Deputy Commissioner of Sky Signs and Licensing Department, Sachin Dhole, has confirmed the decision to allow the installation of new billboards in the city. The department will take special care to ensure that the new advertisement boards do not cause any disturbance in the city.
