Pimpri Chinchwad: PMPML buses start running on Alandi-Dighi BRT route after eight-year delay
Charholi, 17th April 2023: After a long wait, the BRT route between Kate Colony in Charholi and Dattanagar in Dighi has finally become operational. However, due to the signal system on this route still not being functional, the buses are taking more time to reach their destinations.
As a result, other drivers need to be more alert at the main chowk and road crossing.
Starting from Monday (12th April), PMPML buses have resumed running from Chovisawadi to Dighi through the BRT route, which is about eight kilometers long, after being stalled for eight to ten years.
Unfortunately, even after five days, the signal system, which was set up to speed up the PMPML bus movement in this operation, has not yet started. The road that connects the pilgrimage town of Alandi and Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, experiences round-the-clock traffic due to urbanization.
The Alandi-Dighi BRT route offers buses to different parts of Pune city, including Pimpri-Chinchwad. Buses from Alandi to Nigdi, Bhosari, Hinjawadi, Balewadi, Pimpri, Pimple Nilakh, Pimple Saudagar, Sangvi, Dapodi, Baner, Jambe, PMC, Swargate, Pune Station, Hadapsar, Bhekrainagar, and more are available. Additionally, there are a considerable number of buses available from Magazine Corner in Dighi to Bhosari, Nigdi, Akurdi, Chinchwad, and from Bhosari to Wagholi, Bhekrainagar, Hadapsar, Pune Station, Lohgaon, and Bopkhel.
There are seven signal stops from Kate Colony to Dattanagar, including Katewadi, Charholi Phata, Chovisawadi, Vadmukhwadi, Sankalp Garden, Balaji Mandir, Thoralya Paduka, Maulinagar, and Magazine chowk. Furthermore, there are road crossings at four places. Since the signal system, set up to enhance fast bus travel, remains closed, the drivers competing to get ahead of each other are becoming obstacles to the buses.
