Pimpri Chinchwad Police Sub-Inspector Booked For Extorting Money From Hoteliers In Pune

Pune, 25 August 2021: A police sub-inspector from Pimpri Chinchwad has been booked by Pune city police for allegedly extorting Rs 7,000 from a hotel owner. He threatened of raid claiming he had come from the Police Commissioner’s office.

The incident took place at around 10 pm on Tuesday in three hotels within the limits of Mundhwa police station. A case of extortion has been registered against Police Sub-Inspector Milan Kurkute (28) at Mundhwa Police Station. Hotel manager Maruti Kondiba Gore (31) lodged the complaint.

 

According to the police, PSI Kurkute of Pimpri Chinchwad Police visited the Local hotel, One Lounge Hotel, Hotel Carnival, Hotel Metro, ABC Road. He had arrived in a four-wheeler, shouted and threatened to take action against Gore’s hotel, claiming that he had come from the police commissioner’s office. He went to Hotel One Lounge and threatened the manager Sahil Pitre and took Rs 2,000.

 

Hotel Carnival manager Kishor Chhotumal Thapa was also threatened and Rs 3,000 was taken from him. The accused also went to Hotel Metro and threatened them for extortion.

 

Meanwhile, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash has suspended PSI Kurkute for bringing disrepute to the police department.

 

According to police, Kurkute was posted in the control room of Pimpri Chinchwad Police. However, since August 21 he has been on sick leave. Even then, he went to the hotels in uniform and extorted money from them.
