Pimpri Chinchwad: Power System Failure at Mahatransco Substation Causes Outage in Bhosari, Moshi

Pimpri, 16th May 2025: A major power system failure at Mahatransco’s Bhosari 220/22 KV extra-high voltage substation led to a widespread electricity outage in Bhosari and Moshi, affecting approximately 80,000 consumers for nearly two hours on Thursday night (May 15).
According to officials, two 50 MVA capacity power transformers at the Bhosari (RS-2) substation tripped around 9 PM, disrupting the power supply to eight substations of MSEDCL and 15 power lines of 22 KV capacity. This resulted in a blackout across several residential, commercial, and industrial areas including Dudulgaon, Chikhali, Gharkul, Morevasti, Nashik Highway, Mohannagar, Jai Ganesh Samraj, Khadimasheen, Charholi, Alankapuram, Chovisawadi, MIDC, Sector 7, Sector 10, Sector 12, and PMAY Gharkul.
Mahatransco teams responded quickly and began fault repair work immediately. Both power transformers were successfully restarted by 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM respectively. Following this, MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited) restored electricity to all affected areas between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM.
