Hinjawadi, 24th April 2025: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police arrested six individuals involved in illegal online betting on the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) held on Tuesday (22nd April). Around 9:45 pm, the Anti-Gunda Squad of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police, along with Hinjawadi Police, raided a flat in the Blue Ridge Township, located in the heart of Hinjawadi’s upscale residential area, where the betting activity was taking place.

All six accused, who are residents from outside the state and were renting the flat, have been booked. The arrested persons have been identified as Ankush Kushwah (25), Vikram Jha (25), Vikas Paradhi (24), Ayush Jha (26), Gaurav Thengari (26), and Premkumar Rajwani (52). Police Constable Ganesh Medage filed the complaint at Hinjawadi Police Station.

According to police reports, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have heightened vigilance during the IPL season due to increased activity by illegal gamblers involved in cricket betting, which is banned in India. The match between LSG and DC saw DC win, largely due to KL Rahul’s outstanding innings. However, several youths attempted to profit from betting on this match before the police intervention.

During the raid, authorities seized 18 mobile phones, four laptops, and other items valued at approximately ₹5.20 lakh. The Hinjawadi Police are conducting further investigation into the matter.
