PM Modi to Address Nation Tonight Following ‘Operation Sindoor’ and Ceasefire with Pakistan

New Delhi, 12th May 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation tonight at 8 PM, marking his first public statement since the launch of Operation Sindoor, India’s recent military operation against Pakistan-based terror infrastructure.
The address comes two days after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on May 10, following a period of intense cross-border hostilities. On May 7, the Indian Armed Forces launched coordinated strikes on nine terrorist bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor. In retaliation, Pakistan deployed over 500 drones, all of which were successfully neutralized by India’s advanced air defence systems.
Indian Forces Responded with Precision Strikes
In a joint press briefing on Monday, top military commanders from the Army, Air Force, and Navy revealed key details of the operation.
Air Marshal A.K. Bharti stated that the Pakistani military actively collaborated with terrorist groups, leading to the escalation. “Pakistan chose to act on behalf of terrorists, and we had to respond accordingly,” he said.
Chinese Missile Debris Recovered
The Indian Army also disclosed that during the operation, a Chinese-made PL-15 air-to-air missile used by Pakistan was intercepted and destroyed. Debris from the missile was recovered and presented as evidence of foreign involvement in the attack against India.
“Our air defence network not only intercepted the threat but also confirmed that China-manufactured weapons are being used by Pakistan. This underscores the growing complexity of cross-border terrorism,” a senior official said.
Focus Remains on Counter-Terror Operations
Military leaders clarified that India’s actions were aimed strictly at terror outfits and their support structures, not the Pakistani military or civilian population.
“Our fight is not with the Pakistani military but with the terror ecosystem it enables,” said Air Marshal Bharti. The Indian military reiterated that the strikes were calibrated and defensive in nature, carried out only in response to acts of terror.
High Vigil Across Borders
Security remains on high alert across the Line of Control (LoC) and border regions, even as the ceasefire holds.
PM Modi’s address tonight is expected to outline India’s position on national security, regional stability, and the path ahead following Operation Sindoor.
