PM Modi to feature on show Discovery Channel’s ‘Man Vs Wild’ program

New Delhi, July 29, 2019 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will appear on Discovery Channel’s popular television program ‘Man Vs Wild’ on August 12. This special episode of ‘Man Vs Wild’ has been shot in Jim Corbett National Park, which will be aired on Discovery Channel on August 12 at 9pm. It will be displayed in 180 countries around the world. The show’s host Bear Grylls shared a video on Twitter about it.

Bear Grylls tweeted, “People across 180 countries will get to see the unknown side of PM @narendramodi as he ventures into Indian wilderness to create awareness about animal conservation & environmental change. Catch Man Vs Wild with PM Modi @DiscoveryIN on August 12 @ 9 pm. #PMModionDiscovery”

PM Modi also shared his message on social media, “India – where you find lush green forests, diverse wildlife, beautiful mountains and mighty rivers. Watching this programme will make you want to visit different parts of India and add to discourse of environmental conservation. Thanks Bear Grylls for coming here! Discovery Channel India”

On the occasion of International Tiger Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the number of tigers in the country has almost doubled in the last decade. Union minister Prakash Javadekar had said that under the guidance of PM Modi, we have achieved this goal four years ahead of time.

In a statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “For years I have lived in the mountains and forests in the nature’s lap. They have a lasting impact on my life. So I was asked about a special program focusing on life other than politics and that too in the middle of nature. A commitment fulfilled, that too well in advance! It was decided to work towards doubling the tiger population by 2022 but India achieved this 4 years in advance! India is proud to be home to almost 75% of the global tiger population. Development and the environment are not mutually exclusive. India will progress economically and take the lead in protecting the environment. #InternationalTigerDay”

Number of tigers doubled

Speaking on International Tiger Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that on this occasion we reiterate our commitment to the protection of tigers. Every Indian is proud of the statistics that have been released on the number of tigers. Nine years ago, in 2010, the international community in St Petersburg, Russia, had the goal of doubling the number of tigers by 2022. We achieved the goal of saving tigers four years ahead of schedule. He said India is the best place in the world for the protection of tigers. Regarding tiger count, he released figures saying that in 2014 the number of tigers was 2,226. In 2018, it increased to 2,967.
