PMC Launches Pulse Polio Drive, Targets Over 3 Lakh Children in Pune
Pune, 9th October 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will conduct a pulse polio vaccination campaign on Sunday, October 12, aiming to vaccinate 3.12 lakh children aged 0–5 years across the city. Children who miss the Sunday drive will be covered through home visits from October 13 to 17.
The Health Department has urged parents and guardians to take their children to the nearest polio booths to receive the oral vaccine, which consists of two drops per child.
A total of 1,350 polio booths will be set up in public places including Anganwadis, municipal clinics, and temples. The campaign will run from 8 am to 5 pm. Additionally, children on the move will be vaccinated at bus stands, ST stations, metro stations, railway stations, airports, parks, as well as at brick kilns, construction sites, and other relocated areas.
Assistant Health Officer Dr. Rajesh Dighe and Additional Municipal Commissioner Pradeepchandran emphasized that the initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to eradicate polio and safeguard public health.
