PMPML To Set Up 20 Fuel Pumps In Pune And Pimpri Chinchwad

Pune/Pimpri Chinchwad, November 3, 2020: In an effort to become financially stable, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited(PMPML) has started setting up about 20 petrol, diesel and CNG pumps for private vehicles in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad areas. Once these pumps are operational, PMPML will be the largest fuel distributor in the city.

PMPML has 14 depots in the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. Also, more than 60 plots are reserved for PMPML in the municipal development plan within Pune city and Pimpri Chinchwad. The PMPML has started the process of taking possession of it with the help of PMC and PCMC.

In this regard, PMPML has started discussions with Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum, Maharashtra Natural Gas Corporation Limited (MNGL), Mahesh Gas, and others. “Some companies have also identified sites for fuel pumps”, said PMPML CMD Rajendra Jagtap.

These pumps will be operated by PMPML’s Workers Welfare Board. It is expected to generate up to Rs 30 crore annually. Also, the profit from the pump operation will be used only for the Workers Welfare Board.

The pumps will provide petrol, diesel and CNG for private vehicles. The purchase of fuel in bulk from fuel companies will also give a discount to the PMPML. Also, since diesel and CNG will be available at PMPML depots, the fees at other bus pumps for fuel may be reduced.
