Pune, November 3, 2020: Appalled by the poor conditions of the underpass at Jedhe Chowk in Swargate, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has decided to construct a cement road to eliminate any chances of accidents.

According to the proposed plan, the construction work will start after Diwali, and the underway will be closed for commuters for 40 days.

The grade separator was constructed between Shankarsheth Road to Nehru Stadium Chowk about seven years ago by MSRDC. However, to solve the problem of gravel in this underway, the executive engineer of the PMC Randive, deputy engineer Thopte, MSRDC’s executive engineer Barawkar, deputy engineer Karjekar, consultant Khairatkar and representatives of the construction company held a meeting on October 23.

After Diwali, the underpass will be closed for about 40 days, and the repair work will start. It was decided in the meeting that a traffic plan will also be prepared after discussing it with the police.

“The maintenance and repair work is done by MSRDC. Therefore, the repair work will be done by the contractor of MSRDC. Thus, the cost will not be borne by the PMC. all the expenses will be borne by the concerned contractor”, said a PMC official.
