Pune, 5th February 2025: In a major boost to public transportation, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has decided to open five new bus depots at Hinjawadi, Charholi, Bhosari, Moshi, and Ravet. With this expansion, the total number of PMPML depots will increase to 20, strengthening the bus network in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and surrounding areas.

The move comes following directions from Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar, who had instructed the District Planning Committee (DPC) to take immediate steps to improve public transport facilities. In response, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has leased five and a half acres of land at Bhosari, Ravet, and Moshi to PMPML, with an agreement already signed.

According to PMPML Joint Managing Director Nitin Narvekar, the new depots will significantly enhance public transport operations in Pimpri-Chinchwad and PMRDA areas. “We are setting up depots at these locations to improve bus services and accommodate a larger fleet,” he stated.
Ravet will house a CNG bus depot.
Moshi and Bhosari will have e-depots dedicated to electric buses.
Hinjawadi and Charholi depots will be built on PMPML’s existing land.
The new depots will also have larger parking spaces, ensuring that more buses can be accommodated in one place, optimizing fleet management and operations.
