Policeman from Mumbai’s ‘Force One’ Team Accused of Assaulting Woman Police Inspector in Pune
Pune, 4th September 2023: An incident involving the assault of a woman police inspector by a policeman from the ‘Force One’ team of the Mumbai police force occurred on the premises of the Abhiruchi police chowky on Sinhagad Road.
A case has been registered against Nilesh Andres Bhalerao, a resident of Kalina, Santacruz, Mumbai, in connection with this incident. The complaint was filed by a female police inspector at the Sinhagad Road police station.
According to the police, Nilesh Bhalerao is a police officer assigned to the Force One team in Mumbai, while the complainant is a female police inspector serving in the State Intelligence Department (SID). The altercation between Bhalerao and the lady police inspector dates back to 2018 when he was undergoing training. At that time, a case was registered against Bhalerao on charges of obstructing government work and molestation.
The female police inspector initially lodged a complaint against Bhalerao at Wanwadi police station. Subsequently, Bhalerao’s family approached the police inspector, and at their request, she decided to withdraw the complaint. However, following the withdrawal of the case, the accused, Bhalerao, resumed harassing her. Consequently, the police inspector, accompanied by her husband, visited the Abhiruchi police chowky on Sinhagad Road to register a new complaint. It was during this visit that the accused, Bhalerao, arrived at the station.
An altercation ensued between Bhalerao and the female police inspector within the premises of the Abhiruchi police chowky, culminating in an assault. As a result, the Sinhagad Road police have registered a case against Bhalerao on charges of molestation and assault. The investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Bharat Chandanshiv.
