Policeman Killed In an Accident on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway

Panvel/Lonavala, October 13, 2020: A policeman patrolling the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Tuesday was hit by a container truck early morning and died on the spot. The deceased policeman has been identified as Sachin Sonwalkar. He was posted in Panvel.

The accident took place on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Panvel at around 3 am on Tuesday. The container coming from behind hit the cargo truck going from Mumbai to Pune. Sonwalkar, who was patrolling on a two-wheeler, was hit by the container and his two-wheeler got stuck under the wheel of the container.

Sonwalkar was seriously injured. He was rushed to a hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries before treatment.

Digambar Pradhan, Superintendent of Police, Thane Division of the Highway Traffic Department, along with other officials rushed to the spot and inquired about the accident. Police are conducting further investigation.
