Poona College organised a Career Counselling Session “UPSC: Road to Success”
Pune, 14th August 2025: The Poona College Academy for Competitive Examinations, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organised a career counselling session on “UPSC: Road to Success”. The session aimed to provide aspirants with valuable insights, strategies, and motivation for preparing for the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations.
Principal Dr. Iqbal Shaikh, in his remarks on this occasion, emphasised that the civil services are not merely a career option but a noble platform to serve the nation and contribute to social transformation. He urged students to dream big, set clear goals, and remain persistent despite challenges. Stressing the importance of hard work, dedication, and a positive mindset, he reminded aspirants that success in the UPSC is achieved through consistency and a balanced approach between knowledge acquisition and personality development.
The programme commenced with the Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Mukhtar Shaikh, Coordinator, Poona College Academy for Competitive Examinations. He warmly welcomed the resource person, dignitaries, faculty members, and students, and highlighted the importance of structured preparation, discipline, and perseverance in achieving success in competitive examinations.
The resource person, Mr. Ajas Bagwan, delivered an engaging and insightful session, covering essential aspects such as the UPSC exam pattern, stages of the examination process, recommended reading materials, effective time management techniques, and the significance of current affairs. He also shared success stories, common pitfalls to avoid, and practical strategies to enhance both knowledge and analytical skills. The interactive nature of his talk allowed students to clarify their doubts and gain personalised guidance.
Dr. Ahmad Shamshad, Head, Department of Political Science, and Mr. Mohd. Zubair, Director, Knowledge Resource Center, Poona College, facilitated the resource person with a token of appreciation. A total of 137 aspirant students attended this highly informative session, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for civil services among the student community. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks presented by Ms. Noorain.
