Poona College Students Organize Road Safety Awareness Program

Pune, 30 January 2025: The Department of Political Science, , Poona College Youth Red Cross Unit and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully jointly organized a Road Safety Awareness Program on 29th January 2025 at Golibar Chowk, Pune. The event was conducted under the guidance of Principal Dr. Iqbal Shaikh and Vice Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh, who motivated students to actively participate in spreading awareness about road safety and responsible driving.
A total of 57 students participated in the campaign, demonstrating their commitment to promoting road safety. The event was coordinated by Dr. Mukhtar Shaikh, who emphasized the importance of following traffic rules and highlighted the rising number of road accidents due to negligence. Faculty members, student volunteers, and local authorities played an essential role in the program, engaging in discussions and poster presentations.
Students displayed several posters conveying key messages on traffic rules, the importance of wearing helmets and seatbelts, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, and pedestrian safety. They interacted with pedestrians, drivers, and commuters, educating them on the consequences of reckless driving and the necessity of adhering to traffic regulations.
The Road Safety Awareness Program proved to be a meaningful initiative, fostering a sense of civic responsibility among students and promoting safer road practices within the community. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizing team, faculty members, students, and local traffic police for their support in making the program a success.
