Mumbai, 31st January 2023: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has requested the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) that the decision to conduct the state service main examination in descriptive mode instead of objective options may be unfair to the students preparing for the examination and the decision to conduct the main examination in descriptive mode should be postponed till the 2025 main examination.

In a letter sent to the Maharashtra Public Service Commission, Chief Minister Shinde said that the Main Exam is objective-based. The commission has decided to change this method and conduct the examination in the old method i.e. descriptive method.

If this decision is implemented immediately from 2023, there is a possibility of injustice to the students who are preparing for this examination and therefore the students have strongly demanded that the decision of the examination be postponed till the main examination of 2025 descriptively.

The Chief Minister has requested in a letter to accept this demand of the students and postpone the decision on the descriptive examination method and has also expressed the belief that the commission will give relief to lakhs of youth in the state by taking an urgent decision on the matter.

Chief Minister Shinde said in the letter that “The Maharashtra Public Service Commission is working very efficiently and in the last seven-eight months, the commission has worked rapidly to reduce the backlog of jobs. Preparations for filling 75,000 vacancies in government jobs have been completed and planning for the same has also been done.”
