Prashant Jagtap Demands Probe Into Pune Municipal Commissioner’s Decisions, Alleges Irregularities in Tenders Worth Crores

Pune, 29th May 2025: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Chandra Pawar) city president Prashant Jagtap has demanded a thorough inquiry into the financial and policy decisions taken by Pune Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Rajendra Bhosale. In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and both Deputy Chief Ministers, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Jagtap alleged serious irregularities during Dr. Bhosale’s tenure.
Jagtap claimed that Dr. Bhosale, who was promoted as the Municipal Commissioner a year and a half ago, issued unnecessary tenders worth thousands of crores of rupees without the oversight of elected public representatives.
According to Jagtap, these tenders and decisions were not only avoidable but also questionable given the absence of a functioning General Body in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
In light of these allegations, Jagtap has urged the state government to release a white paper detailing all financial and administrative decisions made by Dr. Bhosale from the date of his appointment up to May 29, 2025.
Despite the recent appointment of Naval Kishore Ram as the new Commissioner, Jagtap alleged that Dr. Bhosale continued to convene urgent meetings of the Standing Committee and General Assembly, pushing through tenders worth hundreds of crores in his final days in office. “This goes against the established principle that an outgoing officer should not take major policy decisions once a successor is appointed,” said Jagtap.
He also alleged that Dr. Bhosale approved several proposals previously flagged by the PMC’s Vigilance Committee. Calling these actions a violation of administrative norms, Jagtap has demanded an immediate halt to all decisions made in the past month and an independent investigation into them.
A formal complaint has also been lodged with the Lokayukta, and Jagtap warned that the party would approach the judiciary if the state fails to initiate a probe.
