New Delhi, February 18, 2021: In the IPL 2021 auction, the Punjab Kings bid fiercely on 25-year-old Tamil Nadu batsman Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta finally included him in their team after intense competition. Recently, Shahrukh Khan performed brilliantly for his team Tamil Nadu in the domestic Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy this season and also became the team champion.

Shahrukh Khan’s base price for this season was Rs 20 lakh and the team from Punjab bought him for Rs 5.25 crore and added him to their team. Shahrukh Khan is a very useful batsman in the lower order as well as bowling. Apart from this, Punjab also bought Australian fast bowler Jay Richardson for a lot of crores. The team also spent Rs 8 crore on Riley Meredith and added him to their team.

The Punjab team bought New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jameson for Rs 15 crore in the auction this time. Jameson is considered to be a prolific player in T20 cricket and his inclusion will also provide a great balance to the Punjab team. The Punjab team has tried its best to make themselves stronger by including all these players in the squad. If these players get the support of players like KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, then this team will become even stronger.

However, Punjab has also changed its name this time, which was earlier Kings XI Punjab. Now this team will be known as Punjab Kings and this franchise has probably taken this step to change their fortunes. The Punjab team has not been able to win the IPL title even once. Under KL Rahul’s captaincy, this team missed out on reaching the playoffs last season.
