Prohibitory Orders Imposed Around Pune’s Counting Centre in Koregaon Park

Pune, 19th November 2024: Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma from Pune City Police Commissionerate has imposed prohibitory orders in the area around the counting centre in Koregaon Park for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections. The counting of votes will take place on Saturday (23rd November).

The prohibitory orders will remain in force until the counting process is completed. The vote counting for the constituencies of Kasba, Shivajinagar, Pune Cantonment, Vadgaonsheri, Hadapsar, Kothrud, Parvati, and Khadakwasla will be held on Saturday at the grain warehouse in Koregaon Park. The ballot boxes will be kept under guard after the voting ends.

For security reasons, prohibitory orders have been imposed in the area surrounding the grain warehouse at Koregaon Park from midnight Wednesday. Carrying weapons is prohibited at the counting centre and its vicinity, except for law enforcement personnel. The use of mobile phones, laptops, cordless telephones, and wireless messaging systems has been banned in the counting centre area.

Carrying ballot boxes within the counting centre has also been prohibited, said Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma. The use of loudspeakers by private institutions and organisations in the area of the counting centre has been restricted. Posting and distribution of printed materials is also prohibited. Vehicles, other than government vehicles, will not be allowed near the counting centre. Entry into the counting centre will only be permitted with an official identity card (pass), as stated in the order.
