Puncture Repairing Shops Loot On Mumbai-Pune Highway, FIR Registered Against 8 Persons

Lonavala, 30th June 2022: The Pune rural police has registered a case against eight persons who extorted people under the pretext of repairing punctured tyres on the old Mumbai-Pune highway.

Based on a complaint from Piyush Ashok Kumar Arora (29), a resident of Dombivali, Wadgaon Maval Police Station has registered FIR against Abdul Rahim Rashid, Rashid Abdul Rahim Ali (both currently residing in Wadgaon Maval, originally from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh) and six others.

According to the police, Piyush Arora and Santosh Bansode (29), a resident of Borale in Mangalvedha taluka of Solapur district, were traveling on the old Mumbai-Pune highway. At that time, two persons on a two-wheeler told them to stop claiming the air in the tyre of the car was reduced and the tyre was punctured. They took Arora and Bansode to the Shahnawaz Tyre Shop in Wadgaon Maval. There, the accused hit the tyre under the pretext of removing the puncture and damaged tyre. Even though there was no puncture, the accused extorted Rs 1500 from them under the pretext of puncture repair.

After the case was registered, police arrested the accused persons.
