Lonavala, 7th April 2024: In a bid to uphold public peace and curb disruptive behaviour, Lonavala police took swift action against individuals engaged in vulgar dance and playing loud music at night.

The crackdown came following a tip-off received by the Assistant Superintendent of Police Satya Sai Karthik (IPS), indicating disturbances emanating from a bungalow identified as S4 in the Tungarli area of Lonavala. Allegations of late-night revelry, characterized by loud music, lewd gestures, and disruptive behavior, prompted immediate intervention, informed ASP Karthik.

Based on the tip-off, a team of police personnel from the Lonavla City Police Station raided the bungalow and caught the men and dancers engaged in vulgar dance.

“A case has been registered against them at the Lonavala City Police Station for offences under sections 294 (obscene acts and songs) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other sections of the Maharashtra Police Act”, the officer added.

In light of the incident, authorities issued a stern warning to bungalow owners in and around Lonavala, instructing them to exercise vigilance and ensure that their properties are not utilized for illegal activities. ASP Karthik and Police Inspector Suhas Jagtap of Lonavala City Police stressed the importance of cooperation from property owners, emphasizing the need for them to furnish details of rental agreements to the police station to prevent misuse of their premises. Failure to comply may result in appropriate legal action.

The action is being taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Pankaj Deshmukh and Additional SP (Pune division) Ramesh Chopde.

Furthermore, Lonavala City Police Station has undertaken the task of compiling information regarding bungalows available for rent in the area, urging property owners to promptly contact authorities and provide relevant details to facilitate effective monitoring and enforcement.
