Pune: 10th Edition of ‘Gaanasaraswati Mahotsav’ from 23rd to 25th February 2024

Pune, 7th February 2024: The 10th Edition of ‘Gaanasaraswati Mahotsav’ will be held in the city from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th February 2024 at Mahalaxmi Lawns, Karve Nagar, near Rajaram Bridge, Pune. Organized by Natyasampada Pratishthan, this festival is a tribute to Gaanasaraswati Padma Vibhushan Kishori Amonkar’s immense contribution to the field of Indian Classical Music.

Season tickets for the entire festival in the amount of Rs. 200 will be available on BookMyShow from the 8th of February as well as at Bal Gandharva Ranga Mandir, Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha, and Tilak Smarak Mandir from the 15th February.

Speaking about the Mahotsav, Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar, one of the senior disciples of Amonkar and trustee of Natyasampada Pratishthan said, “This year we mark the 10th edition of Gaanasaraswati Mahotsav to honor the stupendous contribution of my guru to the field of Indian Classical Music.”

“Over the years, the Mahotsav has presented established and upcoming artists to preserve and cherish all classical music forms of India from Vocals and Instrumentals to Dance. This year as well, we have a stellar line-up of artists who will pay their tribute to my guru”, he added further.
On the first and second days of the Mahotsav, i.e. 23rd and 24th of February, the Mahotsav timing will be from 5 PM to 10 PM while on the third day, i.e. 25th of February, the Mahotsav will be held both in the morning from 8 AM to 12.30 PM and in the evening from 4 PM to 10 PM.

The first day will begin with the captivating rendition in the trio performance of Abhay Nayampally on Carnatic Guitar, Manas Kumar on Violin, and Ishaan Ghosh on Tabla. The stage will then be graced by the distinguished and much-loved vocalist Vidushi Kaushiki Chakraborty. The day will conclude with the soulful performance of Pt. Ronu Majumdar on Flute.

The second day will witness the performances of the promising vocalist Saurabh Kadgaonkar, followed by a blissful tribute by the renowned vocalist Vidushi Aarti Ankalikar Tikekar, and the electrifying performance by the Sitar exponent, Pt. Niladri Kumar to end the session.

Day three will begin in the morning with a vocal rendition by the young vocalist Jashan Bhumkar. This will be followed by an enchanting violin duet of the father-son duo Pt. Milind Raikar and Yadnesh Raikar. The first half of day three will conclude with the vocal performance of the versatile artiste Pt. Jayateerth Mevundi.

The concluding evening of the festival will begin with the rhythmic dance recital of the well-known Kathak exponent Vidushi Sharvari Jamenis. Shantanu Gokhale will then regale the audience with his Santoor performance followed by the alluring performance of Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt on his Mohan Veena. The festival will conclude with the grand tribute by Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar to his guru in keeping with the tradition of this festival.
