Pune : 11 Advanced Vehicles To Be Added In PMC’s Fire Brigade Fleet, Rs 40 Crore To Be Spent

Pune 25th August 2023: With an aim to enhance the facilities at the Fire Brigade Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation, a proposal to add 11 new vehicles was approved by the municipal commissioner. The 11 vehicles with advanced technology will include 3 water canons, 6 fire tenders and 2 advanced rescue tenders while two more vehicles are also to be purchased.

The Pune Municipal Corporation will spend a total of 40 Crore and 2 Lakh rupees to purchase these vehicles. The decision to purchase the vehicles with advanced technology has been taken considering the growing population and jurisdiction of the municipal corporation.The civic body has also approved funds for other works such as furniture work to be conducted at the fire brigade department’s offices.

It may be noted that a decision to shift the headquarter of the fire brigade department from Bhavani Peth was also taken. According to officials, increasing population and rapid urbanisation of the city needs advanced equipment to tackle the emergency situation such as fire. To deal with this emergency the civic body plans to expand the facilities at the fire brigade department.
