14 Pistols And 8 Live Bullets Seized by PCPC

Pimpri, 18th January 2022: The sleuths from the Crime Branch of Pimpri Chinchwad police have nabbed four persons and seized 14 countrymade pistols and eight live cartridges from their possession.

The weapons were smuggled from Madhya Pradesh. Cops said that the accused were caught before they could loot a petrol pump in Charholi.

After the use of firearms for murders in Sangvi and Chakan police station areas, Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash ordered a crackdown on the use of illegal weapons. Accordingly, Crime Branch units were looking for the accused dealing in firearms.

Acting on a tip-off received by Police Naik Sagar Shedge of the Anti-Dacoity Cell, a team led by Police Inspector Uttam Tangde and PSI Mahesh Bhange nabbed three persons on January 3 night in Vadmukhwadi, Charholi, who were moving suspiciously.

“During the search, our team found two pistols and two live rounds in their possession besides three mobile phones, and other materials which were to be used in the robbery at a petrol pump”, informed DCP (crime) Dr Kakasaheb Dole.

An FIR was registered against them at the Dighi police station. The accused persons are Rupesh Suresh Patil (30) of Vadgaon Budruk in Chopda taluka of Jalgaon district, Akash Anil Misal (21) of Indrayaninagar in Bhosari and Hritik Dilip Tapkir (26) of Sutarwadi, Pune.

A judicial magistrate court had remanded them in police custody for 14 days till 17th January. “During the investigation, six pistols and live cartridges were seized from the flat of Patil and Tapkir, while four pistols were recovered from the house of Misal.

Two pistols and one live cartridge were recovered from the house of Ajit alias Vicky Ramlal Gupta (28) of Bhosari. Patil had sold the weapon to Gupta. The investigation has revealed that the accused had brought the weapons from Madhya Pradesh. Further investigation is going on”, added DCP Dole.
