Pune: 14-Year-Old Attacks Classmate Over Annual Function Dispute; Attempted Murder Case Filed

Manjari, 21st November 2024: A shocking incident unfolded at a school in the Manjari area, where a 14-year-old boy attacked his classmate with a piece of glass, slitting his neck over a disagreement regarding the school’s annual function planning. The Hadapsar Police have registered a case of attempted murder against the accused minor.
The victim, a 15-year-old student, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital. He later filed a formal complaint at the Hadapsar police station.
According to reports, the two boys, both classmates in Class IX, had been engaged in a dispute over the arrangements for their school’s annual function. On Tuesday (19th November), at around 2:30 pm, tensions escalated when the accused attacked the complainant from behind during class, using a shard of glass to inflict a neck injury.
The sudden and violent act left other students in the classroom panicked. Following the attack, the accused reportedly threatened to kill the victim. School staff and teachers quickly intervened, rushing the injured boy to a nearby hospital.
The accused has since been detained, and a case of attempted murder has been registered. Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare inspected the scene, while Assistant Inspector Dadasaheb Rokde is leading the investigation into the incident.
Authorities are working closely with the school administration to ensure the safety and well-being of all students following this alarming event.
