Pune: One Dead, One Injured In Truck Collision Near Katraj; Investigation Underway
Katraj, 21st November 2024: A tragic accident near Gujarwadi Phata in Katraj claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman after a speeding truck collided with her two-wheeler. Her companion, who was riding with her, sustained injuries in the incident. Bharti Vidyapeeth Police have registered a case against the truck driver involved.
The deceased has been identified as Soni Krishna Srivastava (24), a resident of Katraj and a native of Wadala, Mumbai. Her injured companion, Karan Praveen Chikane (24), resides in Dattanagar, Ambegaon.
As per the police report, both Soni and Karan were traveling on a bike on Saturday (9th November), when a speeding truck reportedly hit their bike from behind near Gujarwadi Phata, leading to fatal injuries to Soni. Karan, who suffered injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Following Karan’s formal complaint on Tuesday (19th November) a case was registered against the truck driver, Sagar Vilas Thorat (39), a resident of Mangdewadi, Katraj.
The Bharti Vidyapeeth Police are now conducting further investigations, with Sub-Inspector Suresh Shinde overseeing the case.
