Pune: 14-Year-Old Girl Gang-Raped By Three Youngsters At A Birthday Party

Pune, 29 March 2021: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three youngsters including two aged between 16 to 18 years, at a birthday party in Warje Malwadi.

One of the accused had shot her in the chest after she was leaving the place. However, she survived as the bullet hit her mobile phone. Police have arrested two people in the case while the search is going on for three more people.

The incident took place about two weeks ago. It came to light after Crime Branch Unit 2 of Pune City Police arrested a youth in connection with the possession of a weapon. During the investigation, it was found that the weapon was fired two weeks ago. The cops traced the girl and an FIR for gang-rape has been registered now.

According to the police, the victim stays with her grandmother. Her father lives in a different place while her mother had left him long back. Around 6 pm on the day of the incident, a victim’s friend from Hadapsar told her that they have to go to Warje Malwadi for a friend’s birthday. The victim and one of her female friends reached Warje Malwadi with the accused. The accused stayed in the parking while the girls went to the sixth-floor room of the youngster whose birthday was to be celebrated.

Police officials said that they chatted for a while and then her female friend went to another room to sleep. After that three accused took turns to rape her. She wanted to go home but the accused told her to stay back as two more youths (including the one who had brought her) will reach soon and they too want to have physical relations with her. However, the victim resisted following which one of the accused fired at her from the country-made pistol. However, the bullet hit her phone and she escaped with a minor injury.

The victim in her statement to the police said, “Soon the two other accused also arrived at the location. They called a woman who dressed the wound. They threatened to kill me if I told anyone about the incident. We stayed there at night and on the next day, the accused dropped me near my sister’s house in Katraj. When my sister asked about the wound, I told her that I got injured with an iron bar.”

Now, Dattawadi police station has registered an FIR for kidnapping and gang-rape under the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police have arrested three accused and detained two minor boys in the case.
