Pune: 15 Charging Stations Online, 86 in Total Set for Deployment
Pune, 25th November 2023: In a move to promote electric mobility, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated the tendering process for the first phase of setting up 86 e-charging stations across the city, part of the larger plan to establish 500 such stations.
Following PMC’s announcement in December 2022 regarding the citywide deployment of e-charging infrastructure, 15 stations have already been installed strategically. These include locations such as Savarkar Bhavan, Ganesh Kala and Sports Centre, Bibwewadi ward office, P L Deshpande Udyan, Ghole Road ward office, Tilak Road ward office, Peshwa Park, Gultekdi Parking, Navloba Parking, and the PMC main building.
Each e-charging station is equipped with charging points for two two-wheelers and one four-wheeler. Citizens can utilize these facilities by making online payments, with both fast and slow charging options available.
As part of the initiative, PMC officials and office-bearers will soon have e-cars at their disposal, marking the commencement of the plan’s implementation. The successful completion of the tender process for the initial 86 e-charging stations signals a significant step forward in enhancing the city’s electric vehicle infrastructure.
Each charging station, currently placed in PMC parking lots, gardens, ward offices, auditoriums, and theatres, will initially feature two charging points. The PMC plans to incrementally expand the network based on the availability of suitable locations, further contributing to the city’s embrace of sustainable and eco-friendly transportation.
