Pune: PCMC Plans Fourth Attempt For 22 New EV Charging Stations
Pimpri, 25th November 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is set to reissue tenders for the establishment of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at 22 locations to meet the rising demand of the city’s residents. These stations, to be operated by private agencies, aim to provide accessible EV charging services.
Over the past 18 months, private agencies have abstained from participating in the tender process on three separate occasions, citing stringent conditions. In response, the PCMC plans to modify the terms and conditions of the tender and reissue it for the fourth time by the end of this month.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad sub-regional transport office has already registered approximately 30,000 e-vehicles in the city. The designated 22 sites for EV charging stations will operate under the build, operate, and own (BOO) framework, with private agencies responsible for securing power supply from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company for eight years.
Under the revised terms, agencies will be tasked with establishing and managing charging stations on provided land. The PCMC aims to select agencies based on the highest revenue distribution, with a revenue-sharing arrangement where agencies contribute a portion of their earnings to the corporation, ensuring an affordable pricing model for customers.
The designated charging locations include various points across PCMC premises, Citrus Hotel in Pimpri, Durgadevi Hill Nigdi, Vahatuk Nagari, Major DhyanChand Hockey Stadium Nehru Nagar, Konkan Chowk near Nisarga Nirman Society Reliance Mart, Pimple Saudagar, RTO Office, Chikhali, Bird Valley Sambhaji Nagar, International Wrestling Complex Bhosari, Sewage Disposal Center Chikhali, Landewadi Nashik Road-Telco Road Junction, Bhakti Shakti Bus Terminal Nigdi, Near Bajaj Auto, HA Company Subway, near Sant Tukaram Metro Station’s fourth entrance, P K. Chowk, Pimple Saudagar, Yoga Park Vibgyor School Pimple Saudagar, Rajmata Jijamata Garden Parking Prabhat Nagar, Pimple Gurav, Sant Nagar Udyan Kasarwadi, B.D. Killedar Garden, VallabhNagar, Auto Cluster, Science Park, and Rajshri Shahu Garden.
