Pune: 150 Dignitaries To Experience ‘Ashadhi Ekadashi Wari’ In Wake Of G-20 Meeting

Pune, 12th May 2023: Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao ordered that preparations for Shri Saint Dyaneshwar Maharaj and Shri Saint Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi should be completed within the stipulated time and special efforts should be made to make this ceremony pleasant for the devotees.

Also this year more than 150 delegates will be staying in Pune for the G-20 meeting. Rao said that these representatives will be informed about the rich cultural tradition of the state.

He was speaking at a meeting held in the Divisional Commissioner’s office for the preparation of the Ashadhi Ekadashi Yatra Palkhi ceremony.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Kolhapur Division Special Inspector General of Police Sunil Phulari, Pune Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik, Satara Collector Ruchesh Jayavanshi, Pune Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Dr Kunal Khemnar, Deputy Commissioner of Divisional Commissionerate Varsha Ladda, the chief functionaries of the Palkhi ceremony, senior officers of various departments were present.

Stating that meetings have been held at the district collector level for planning the Palkhi ceremony, Rao said, necessary planning has been done for various facilities on the Palkhi route and Palkhi base. Necessary action has also been taken regarding road repair, leveling, removal of encroachments, and facilities provided to the devotees.

He suggested that the Pune district administration should use the mobile app to provide information about the planning of the Wari. He assured that the workers will not be made to face the shortage of drinking water.

Kolhapur Division Special Inspector General of Police Phulari informed that a wireless system will be made available along with the Palkhi ceremony. Experienced police officers will be appointed for security. He urged everyone to cooperate with the local police administration.

Divisional Commissioner Rao said that basic facilities will be provided to the people who come from all over the state for the Wari. The help of charitable organizations is being taken for this with an emphasis on clean and green Wari.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department should make necessary repairs to the roads on the Palkhi route. Rao said that the Zilla Parishads should pay special attention to ensure that the toilets are regularly cleaned.
