Pune: 150 Immersion Tanks On Wheels This Year For Ganeshotsav

Pune, 15th August 2022: The planning for the upcoming Ganeshotsav has begun from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), with the Solid Waste Management Department has decided to construct 150 ‘immersion tanks on wheels’ during the period of the festival. Along with mobile immersion tanks, the civic body will also provide 135 fixed tanks for immersion.

During Ganeshotsav, one and a half days, five, seven and ten days of Ganesha immersion are performed. Accordingly, the construction of immersion tanks has been planned by the Municipal Corporation.

According to Municipal Commissioner, Administrator Vikram Kumar, last year, during the implementation of the concept of a mobile immersion tank, there was a case where the contractor was paid even when the vehicles were stopped at the spot. The Municipal Corporation claimed that care will be taken to prevent similar incidents from happening this year as well.

This year, 150 mobile tanks will be arranged by the Solid Waste Department. Arrangements will be made separately from the fifteen zonal offices of the Municipal Corporation. Apart from this, immersion tanks will be constructed at various places in the city too. Immersion tanks will be constructed at 136 places in different parts of the city this year. The municipal administration has stated that the expenses, including cleaning, painting, lighting, etc. of the fixed tanks, have been approved.
