Pune: 16-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Pond During Morning Walk; Rescue Effort Lasts Three Hours

Undri, 31st May 2025: A 16-year-old boy tragically drowned in a pond located behind the Nayakoba Temple in Wadachi Wadi adi on Saturday (31st May) morning while out for a morning walk.

The deceased has been identified as Aditya Hani Babar, a resident of Sankalp Society, Wadachi Wadi. According to Police Inspector Manasingh Patil of the Kalepadal Police Station, Aditya had gone for a morning walk at the foothills near the area. He reportedly entered the nearby pond to swim but inadvertently ventured into deeper waters, where he drowned.

A rescue operation was launched by the Kondhwa (Budruk) Fire Brigade and continued for nearly three hours. The efforts were supported by local residents including Ramdas Bandal, Nandkumar Bandal, Suraj Chavan, Prasad Mokhar, Amol Bandal, Sagar Ghule, Pritesh Zhende, and private diver Nikhil Shivtare.

After persistent efforts, the rescue team was able to recover Aditya’s body from the pond. Members of the fire brigade who participated in the operation included Sameer Shaikh, driver Santosh Gaikwad, Dashrath Malvadkar Sagar Pissal, Vishwajit Wagh, Tushar Kondawale, Pankaj Owal, and Sanket Bhosale.
