Pune: 17-Year-Old Takes Own Life Amid Alleged Threats, Accused Arrested

Pune, 6th May 2024: A shocking incident involving a 17-year-old boy from Pune committing suicide due to threats from two individuals has surfaced. The accused were allegedly friends with the deceased and have now been arrested by the police. This incident occurred in Mangalwar Peth on Tuesday (30th April)around 3:30 AM in the Night.

A 40-year-old woman, a resident of Mangalwar Peth, filed a complaint at Faraskhana Police Station. The Faraskhana Police have arrested Romeo Rajendra Kamble (34 years old) and Sanket Vishal Kamble (26 years old), both residents of Mangalwar Peth, Pune.

According to police reports, the boy who committed suicide is the son of the complainant. The deceased had been receiving threats from the accused, Romeo and Sanket, for the past year. They had been threatening him, saying, “We will kill you.” On April 28th, the accused had threatened the deceased, stating that they would slit his throat. On April 30th, they allegedly beat him up and repeated the threat. Faced with this ongoing torture, the 17-year-old boy decided to end his life by hanging.

Faraskhana Police have registered a case against the two accused under IPC Sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 34 (acts one by several persons in furtherance of common intention), and they are further investigating this matter.

The investigating officer of this case, Assistant Police Inspector Santosh Shinde, told Punekar News, “We have arrested both the accused today. As far as we know, the accused and the deceased were quite acquainted with each other. For the past year, due to divisiveness, they were telling the deceased not to be in contact with certain people and groups. They were giving him life threats, and fed up with all this, the complainant’s son committed suicide.”
