Pune, June 14, 2020: As many as 188 passengers from 24 places arrived today afternoon in a special charter flight FlyDubai. Among the passengers 83 were from Pune itself. The flight was scheduled to arrive at 12.40 pm, but it was delayed by around half-an-hour. A total of 83 passengers from Pune are sent to 14 days quarantine in hotels selected by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

“We have arranged 6 PMPML buses for Pune, 6 MSRTC buses for other districts and cabs have been arranged for some passengers who asked for it. We have checked all vehicles going outside Pune,” said Sanjay Patil, Deputy RTO Pimpei-Chinchwad.

The MSRTC carried passengers who belonged to Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad, Thane, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur and Sangli. Some were from Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh as well, who have been sent to their home.

After arrival all passengers go through thermal screening, process of customs and immigration. The officials of Customs, Immigration and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were equipped with full Personal Protection Equipments (PPE) kits.

The flight has been arranged by an Indian Businessman based in Dubai named Rahul Tulpule. He is also Vice-President of the Maharashtrian Business Forum. He made this possible after talks with the Indian Consulate and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in India.

Due to COVID-19 many passengers have been stuck in different countries. The Government of India and the Ministry of Civil Aviation had started Vande Bharat on May 7, 2020. However, no airline was connected to Maharashtra from UAE. As per report 27 flights have been connected with Mumbai but all from different countries.
