Pune, 31st July 2026: Heavy rainfall in Pune district has washed away the alternative road connecting Malkhed and Vardade villages to Panshet in Haveli taluka, disrupting connectivity and leaving residents stranded.

According to local sources, continuous and intense rainfall since Thursday night caused extensive damage to the road, making it impassable. With the alternative route washed away, access to and from the two villages has been completely cut off.

The situation has worsened as the main road leading to Panshet has also been rendered unusable for vehicular traffic due to the heavy rain, creating major difficulties for residents and commuters in the area.

The damaged road has forced the suspension of all vehicle movement, raising concerns among villagers over access to essential services and emergency transportation.

Residents have urged the district administration to conduct an immediate inspection of the affected stretch, provide an alternative route and undertake restoration work on a war footing to reconnect the villages at the earliest.

In view of the continuing heavy rainfall forecast, citizens have been advised to avoid travelling on the affected route unless absolutely necessary. Tourists planning to visit the Panshet region have also been urged to exercise caution and follow advisories issued by the local administration.
