Pune: 23-Year-Old Labourer Dies in Freak Accident At Phoenix Mall In Wakad
Wakad, 18th October 2023: A harrowing incident took place at Phoenix Mall of the Millennium Wakad on Tuesday evening (October 17), leading to the loss of a young labourer’s life. The accident occurred when marble slabs fell from a tempo, fatally injuring the labourer.
The deceased has been identified as Sunil Shankar Jadhav, a 23-year-old resident of Matoji Nagar, Balewadi, Pune. Sunil had been working at the mall when the accident occurred. His father, Shankar Sangram Jadhav, aged 45, has complained to the Wakad police station in the wake of the incident.
A case has been registered against the tempo driver, identified as Bapurao Bharat Phad. Sunil was actively engaged in his labourer duties, which involved the removal of marble from the tempo at Phoenix Mall of the Millennium Wakad on the fateful Tuesday evening.
Tempo driver, Bapurao Phad, suddenly reversed the vehicle, leading to an incident in which a marble slab dislodged and fell upon Sunil. The labourer sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital for immediate medical attention. Despite the efforts to save his life, Sunil succumbed to his injuries.
