Pune: 24 Citizens Cheated By Exchanging ATM Cards, Wanowrie Police Arrest Accused

Wanowrie, 1st July 2021: A 25-year-old man has been arrested by Pune city police’s Wanowrie police station for allegedly cheating 24 persons by exchanging their ATM cards. Police have solved five cases and recovered Rs 2.45 lakh from him. Earlier, 11 cases were registered against him in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

The arrested person has been identified as Shravan Satish Minjagi (25), a native of South Solapur, who lived in Loni Kalbhor.

While investigating a case registered with Wanowrie police station, police checked the footage of 40 CCTVs. Policemen Santosh Naik and Sambhaji Divekar zeroed on the thief and nabbed Minjagi.

During the investigation, police recovered 18 ATM cards of various banks besides ornaments worth Rs 2.45 lakh. The accused has reportedly confessed to having cheated 24 people. There are cases registered at Loni Kalbhor, Hadapsar, Wanowrie, Lashkar and Jejuri police stations.

The investigation was conducted under the guidance of DCP (Zone 5) Namrata Patil, Senior Police Inspector Deepak Lagad, Inspector Savalram Salgaonkar. The team included API Jaywant Jadhav and policemen Santosh Tanwade, Amjad Pathan, Sanjay Bagal, Raju Rajge, Santosh Mohite, Santosh Naik, Vinod Bhandalkar, Sambhaji Divekar, Atul Gaikwad, Sagar Jagdale, Amit Chive, Navnath Khatal, Sudhir Sonawane, Ganesh Kharat and Deepak Bhoir.
