Pune: 250 Skaters to Compete in Vinayaki Krida Mahotsav Open District-Level Roller Skating Championship
Pune, 25th July 2026: Around 250 skaters from across Pune district will participate in the Vinayaki Krida Mahotsav Open District-Level Roller Skating Championship, organised by the Someshwar Foundation to commemorate the birth anniversary of former MLA Late Vinayak Nimhan. The championship will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Perry Dot Hall, Sunny’s World, Pashan-Sus Road, Pune.
Speaking about the championship, Sunny Nimhan, member of the Someshwar Foundation and Corporator, said, “Through the Vinayaki Krida Mahotsav, organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Late Vinayak Nimhan, our objective is to promote various sporting disciplines and provide young athletes with a platform to showcase their talent. The enthusiastic response from skaters across Pune district is truly encouraging. This championship will help develop a competitive spirit among young skaters and inspire them to excel at the district, state and national levels. Through the Vinayaki Krida Mahotsav, we will continue our efforts to strengthen Pune’s sporting culture.”
The championship will witness participation from international-level skaters including Vishwesh Patil, Vikram Ingle, Siddharth Kamble and Surud Surve.
The one-day championship will feature competitions for boys and girls in age categories from above six years up to 18 years. The events will be conducted in Quad, Recreational Inline and Professional Inline disciplines, along with categories for younger skaters.
Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Ashok Gunjal will officiate as the Chief Referee, while the championship will be conducted under the guidance of international skating coach Pushkar Kulkarni.
The winners in the respective categories will be awarded trophies and certificates, while every participant will receive a medal and T-shirt.
The championship will be inaugurated by Sunny Nimhan, member of the Someshwar Foundation and Corporator. Abhijit Mohite, Championship Coordinator, will also be present on the occasion.
