Pune: 29-Year-Old Engineer Dies By Suicide, Had Lost Job During Lockdown

Kondhwa, March 30, 2021: A 29-year-old engineer died by suicide in his living room. Police suspect that he took the extreme step due to depression after losing his job during the lockdown.

The deceased has been identified as Rishikesh Maruti Umap, a resident of Thosar Nagar. A case in this regard has been registered at the Kondhwa police station.

According to police, the deceased was living in Kondhwa. His father is a retired government employee. His brother is working in Bengaluru.

At around 10 am today, his family noticed that he was not opening the door of his room. When they opened it, they found him hanging. They then informed the Kondhwa police station. Police then rushed to the spot.

The deceased had lost his job last year due to the COVID-19-induced lockdown and could not find a new one. He may have died by suicide due to depression of losing his job, said Senior Inspector Sardar Patil.

Kondhwa police are conducting further investigations.
