Maharashtra: 10-Days Lockdown In Aurangabad Cancelled From Midnight Today
Aurangabad, 30 March 2021: The planned 10-days mini lockdown in Aurangabad has been cancelled. The lockdown was to come into effect from today midnight.
However, opposition from local traders and people’s representatives forced the administration to reverse its decision.
District Collector Sunil Chavan has announced that the planned lockdown has been cancelled till further orders.
Due to rising COVID cases, the administration had decided to impose lockdown from March 30 to April 8. MP Imtiaz Jaleel had announced to take out a morcha against the lockdown. After that, the district collector had called a meeting of people’s representatives from all parties.
After the meeting, Collector Sunil Chavan held a press conference at around 9.30 pm and cancelled the decision to impose a lockdown in Aurangabad.
The decision was taken after discussions with the Principal Secretary, informed District Collector Chavan. However, partial lockdown rules will remain in force in the district, he informed.
