Pune: 3 Police Personnel Suspended After Accused Attacked In Custody, 6 Persons Arrested

Pune, 20th September 2022: The police have arrested six accused who tried to murder Hindu Rashtra Sena member Tushar Hambir, who was undergoing treatment at Sassoon Hospital. Police personnel Pandurang Kadam, Rahul Mali, and Sitaram Kokate have been suspended for laxity in work.

The arrested persons have been identified as the mastermind Prakash alias Vaishnav Ranchoddas Diwakar (26) of Bhimnagar, Uttamnagar, and Parvez alias Sahil Hyder Ali Inamdar (21) of Uruli Devachi, Pune. An attempt was made to attack Hambir (35) of Hadapsar, Pune, with a crowbar. Sagar Hanumant Oval (22), Balaji Hanumant Oval (23), both residents of Bunkar Colony, Hadapsar, Suraj Sheikh (19), resident of Harpale Chal, Hadapsar, and Sagar Atole (21) of Wadki were arrested earlier in this case.

 

 

 

Hambir, who works for Hindu Rashtra Sena (HRS), is an accused in the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) case filed in 2016 at Loni Kalbhor police station. He suffers from bone and muscle pain and has difficulty walking. He has to visit the doctor for frequent treatment in the hospital. As he was having trouble walking on 25th August, he came to Sassoon Hospital for treatment. The doctors admitted him to the third floor of the hospital’s Infosys Building. On September 5, a gang of five men entered the hospital armed with weapons. Police personnel from headquarters were assigned to patrol this place.

On the day of the incident, around 9:30 pm, one of the members pulled out a pistol. He tried to kill Hambir by firing a shot from the pistol, but it did not fire. One of them tried to stab him with a sword, a policeman drew his rifle following which all five fled from the spot.

 

 

 

Subsequently, two teams of Bund Garden Police Station, Crime Branch and Hadapsar Police Station were deputed to arrest the accused. Till now, six accused have been arrested.
