Pimpri, 20th September 2022: The ‘Forum of Small Scale Industries Association’ has made a demand to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to move the planned Pune international airport to Chakan instead of Purandar. The organization has claimed that many foreign companies will come forward for investment if an airport is established in the Chakan area as it is an industrial belt.

Forum of Small Scale Industries Association President Abhay Bhor has given a memorandum to the Chief Minister in this regard. “Chakan was going to have an airport. Hence, many big companies invested in Chakan. There are a large number of industrial estates in Talegaon, Ranjangaon, Pimpri Chinchwad and other areas near Chakan. Talegaon-Chakan distance is 15 minutes. Due to the nurturing environment, if Chakan has an airport, it will attract foreign companies and increase investment in the state”, Bhor said.

“It will also benefit the industry sector. Many industries are reluctant to come in as there is no alternative to Mumbai airport,” in this regard, Bhor has demanded that Chakan should be considered for the airport.

Due to the ever-changing policies of the government, foreign companies are in a dilemma. The memorandum also said that if the right option is found, there can be a huge opportunity for investment in Maharashtra.
