Pune: 5000 Police Personnel, Officers To Be Deployed On New Year’s Eve, Commissioner Appeals People To Stay Indoor

Pune, December 28, 2020: As many as 5000 police personnel including top officers will be deployed by Pune city police on New Year’s Eve to enforce the night curfew order that has been imposed in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, informed Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta.

 

He has appealed to Puneites to celebrate New year’s eve at home. “Citizens are requested to celebrate the New Year indoors, as a gathering of more than 4 people is strictly not allowed”, said Gupta.

 

Police will also be deployed at numerous places during the night curfew, especially on the main roads of the city. In this regard, police personnel, police officers, Bomb Detection & Disposal Squad (BDDS) will be deployed under the jurisdiction of every police station. Therefore, the police have appealed to the citizens to celebrate December 31st at home. 

 

Meanwhile, the traffic branch will be checking for a violation of traffic rules such as drink and drive, triple seat on two-wheelers, jumping a signal, driving without seat belt motors, not wearing masks and strict action will be taken against such violators.

 

Hotels, restaurants and bars to close at 10.30 pm

Hotels, restaurants and bars will be closed by the police at 10.30 pm to avoid crowds. Police have appealed to hoteliers to cooperate. Violations of COVID-19 norms and regulations in restaurants, including hotels, will result in action.

 

Additional security will be deployed at Ferguson College Road, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Shivaji Road, JM Road, Lakshmi Road, Bajirao Road, Koregaon Park, Deccan, Kothrud, Hadapsar areas. Citizens must follow the rules, giving priority to self-discipline. Emphasis should be placed on not going to crowded places. Citizens should cooperate with the police, appealed Gupta.
