Pune: 61 acres in Lohegaon set to be developed as water sports complex
Pune, 26 February 2021: The Minister of Sports and Tourism of Maharashtra, Aditi Tatkare, has given approval for the development of a water sports complex in Lohegaon.
On Wednesday, Sunil Tingre, MLA from Vadgaonsheri, met the minister to discuss this project. The complex will come up on the 61 acres, known as Harantale, which is located at survey number 35 in Lohegaon.
MLA Tingre said that district sports officials, Haveli tahsildar and revenue officers were all present for the meeting. “On survey number 35, there is an old water tank spread over 12 acres which can be converted into a water sports complex. The district collector owns 31 acres. This whole area can be turned as one of the city’s biggest attractions”, he said.
The minister has instructed officials to fence the land to make sure it does not get encroached upon. The district collector has been asked to get a detailed project report (DPR) prepared by a state-approved architect and consultant.
Tingre stated, “The area has been included in the municipal corporation limit, but the land is owned by the district collector. It can be developed as one of the best tourist and sports sites in the city.”
