Pune: 65 persons return from London, hundreds leave Pune district for their homes

Pune, May 10, 2020: The state government has decided a policy to allow migrant workers, pilgrims, students and other citizens stranded in the state and outside the state to go to their desired destination. For this, responsibilities have been given to various officers at the administrative level as nodal officers.

Accordingly, the administration has prepared a list of these citizens and started the process of getting permission from the concerned states. The Pune district administration has informed that the citizens are being allowed to travel following the rules prescribed by the government as well as strict adherence to social distance. Under the guidance of District Collector Naval Kishore Ram, all the agencies in the district administration are planning this very carefully.

As part of the operation undertaken by the district administration, 20 people from the temporary shelter at Dehu were shifted to Solapur today. From Swargate, 43 students were sent in two ST buses to Jalgaon, 24 workers from Mauje Shive to Hingoli, Nanded and 110 workers from Kamshet, Taluka Maval were sent in 5 buses to Latur, Washim by the police and revenue department.

Earlier, a total of 74 students from Kota (Rajasthan) were brought to Swargate in four ST buses from Dhule depot and 80 devotees stranded at Prajapati Bramhakumari, Mount Abu (Rajasthan) were brought to Pune in a special vehicle. As per the instructions of the government, their health has been checked and they have been quarantined at home. A flight from London to Mumbai International Airport brought in 65 citizens from Pune district. The citizens have been kept in isolation rooms at Hotel Sadanand Regency in Balewadi.

24 laborers from Pirangut Gram Panchayat in Mulshi taluka were sent to Rajasthan by bus to go to their native village. Also, 1093 laborers from Madhya Pradesh who were staying at different shelter homes were sent to Rewa (Madhya Pradesh) from Urali railway station (Uruli Kanchan) on May 8 by Shramik Special Railway, while 1131 laborers were sent by special train to Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh on May 9. Today Pune- Prayagraj Shramik Special train departed from at 8.30 pm from Pune railway station carrying about 1200 registered and nominated passengers by the State Government, following the rules of lockdown. Also, 1172 labourers from Madhya Pradesh staying Daund and Purandar taluka boarded a special train.

Among the inter-district labourers, 38 laborers from Nanded district have been sent in three vehicles while 38 labourers from three shelters in Shirur have been sent by special bus to their native village in Washim district. People have to register online or with the local police station if they want to travel. After arrangements are being made, they are being called to board the bus or train. Without person nobody is being allowed to travel.
