Pune: 65-Year-Old Man Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Minor Boy in Pimpri Chinchwad
Dapodi, 15th April 2025: A retired Army subedar, Lala Mohammad Shaikh (65), has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy in Bopkhel on Sunday (13th April), around 8:30 PM. Local residents caught Sheikh, assaulted him, and handed him over to the police.
According to the Dapodi Police, Shaikh, who resides in a rented accommodation in Bopkhel while his family lives elsewhere, was caught in the act by locals. The enraged residents intervened, beat him up, and alerted authorities. Due to injuries sustained during the altercation, Shaikh was admitted to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune.
The victim’s mother filed a formal complaint yesterday. Following this, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012. Investigations are ongoing to gather further evidence.
