Pune: 7000 Police Personnel Deployed Today For Ganpati Visarjan Security

Pune, September 1, 2020: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune city police have appealed devotees to perform immersion of Ganesh idols at home. To make sure these guidelines are followed, at least 7000 police personnel are deployed so that citizens do not violate the lockdown rules.

Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shisve informed, “So far, the citizens have cooperated by immersing the Ganapati idols in their homes. Also, Ganpati Mandals are instructed to immerse the idols in the mandap tanks. Few mandal workers will be allowed for the visarjan, and they have to ensure social distancing. It is also expected that the procession of Dagdusheth Ganpati can be crowded. Hence, traffic on Shivaji Road will be diverted for some time in the evening.”

Arrangements have been made at various places to prevent citizens from going out for darshan. Police are also be deployed in the ghats and river side. 7000 police personnel, quick reaction team (QRT), bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS), State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) company are on standby. In the unprecedented situation of COVID-19 pandemic, citizens and mandals should fully cooperate with the police in the celebration, appealed the Joint Commissioner Dr Shisve.

The deadline for visarjan would be 11 pm in the night today.
