Purandar, 13th September 2025: Land acquisition for the proposed Purandar International Airport has gained momentum, with nearly three-fourths of the required land already receiving farmer consent, officials said.

District Collector Jitendra Dudi informed that in the past 18 days, 1,980 farmers from seven villages earmarked for the project have submitted consent letters for about 2,030 acres of land, which accounts for 72% of the total 3,000 acres needed.

“Farmers are coming forward in large numbers to provide land for the airport project. So far, 72 percent of the required land area has received consent, which is a significant development,” Dudi said.

The proposed international airport will span seven villages in Purandar taluka — Vanpuri, Udachiwadi, Kumbharvalan, Ekhatpur, Pargaon, Munjawadi, and Khanwadi. Initially, the plan required around 7,000 acres, but the state government later revised the acquisition target to 3,000 acres.

The district administration began accepting consent forms on August 25, and on the very first day, 760 farmers offered about 1,070 acres. Since then, the number has steadily increased.

Officials also clarified that landowners who have submitted consent letters have been refunded as part of the acquisition process. The final deadline for farmers to provide consent is September 18.

The Purandar International Airport project, considered crucial for Pune’s aviation growth and regional development, has been pending for several years. With the rising number of consents, the district administration expects to achieve its target by the deadline.
