Pune : 72 People Killed And 9 Missing Due To Heavy Rainfall And Flood In Maharashtra

Pune 22nd July 2023: Though the average rainfall in the state was reported below normal rainfall this year, several districts in Maharashtra have received heavy rainfall causing flooding and death of several people. According to officials data, a total of 72 people have lost their lives due to heavy rain and flooding since June 1 in Maharashtra while 9 of them are still reported missing.

A total of 93 people have sustained injuries while 163 houses have been partially damaged according to the state government data. Around over 68 animals have also reportedly killed during this period.

The officials have said that around 15,555 people have been affected due to heavy rain and flooding in the state. Gadchiroli, Raigad, Nanded and Ratnagiri are the district which are affected. The state government has opened 23 relief camps in the affected districts and 18 people have been evacuated.

It may be noted that the rescue operation at Irsalwadi landslide incident site is still underway and the officials have not added the official figures from this incident yet.
