Pune: 79-Year-Old Man Defrauded Of Rs 17 Lakh On Pretext Of Dating

Warje Malwadi, 11th November 2022: An incident of financial fraud of around Rs 17.10 lakh on a 79-year-old retired bank employee from the Warje Malwadi area of Pune has taken place. Reportedly, the elderly man received a phone call asking him if he needs a girl to date. In this regard, a case has been registered against an unknown girl named Shreya at Warje Malwadi Police Station.

 

According to the information given by the police, the 79-year-old retired bank employee is staying in the Warje Malwadi area. In December 2021, he received a call from an unknown girl named Shreya asking if he was looking for a girl to date.

 

 

According to the conversation between the two at that time, accused Shreya told the 79-year-old man that he needed to pay some amount. Accordingly, he transferred some amount online. After that, there were constant phone calls between the two. From December 2021 to June 2022, he paid around Rs 17.10 lakhs, but still, Shreya did not inform him about a girl to date.

 

The accused then asked Shreya for an answer, but she did not respond in any way. After the 79-year-old realised he had been defrauded, he lodged a complaint with Warje Malwadi Police station. The police have informed that a case has been registered against an unknown girl named Shreya.
